Language Proficiency Level Examinations

The Center for Lithuanian Studies and Foreign Languages organizes Lithuanian language proficiency level examinations (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1) in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
These examinations are designed to assess foreigners’ Lithuanian language competences, determine their proficiency level, and provide an official certificate.

General Information

  • Examinations are conducted both in person and online.
  • The speaking section of the examination is recorded.
  • The examination certificates are not equivalent to the State Language Proficiency Category Certificates.

Registration

  • Registration is carried out online (a link is provided below) or in person at the Center for Lithuanian Studies and Foreign Languages.
  • A candidate is considered registered only after submitting all required documents and paying the examination fee.

Testing Objectives and Structure of the Tests

The aim of the examinations is to determine the candidate’s level of Lithuanian language proficiency by assessing the following competences: 

  • Reading 
  • Writing 
  • Listening 
  • Speaking

Each component is evaluated according to the criteria established in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

Sample Tasks

When organizing Lithuanian language proficiency level testing (A1–C1), the Center for Lithuanian Studies and Foreign Languages of Klaipėda University follows the requirements and assessment guidelines established by the National Education Agency (NŠA).

To better prepare for the examination, we recommend reviewing the sample Lithuanian language tests prepared by the NŠA, which illustrate the structure of the tasks and assessment principles.

The provided examples allow candidates to familiarize themselves with the structure and format of the tasks for each language level (A1–C1), including the reading, writing, listening, and speaking modules.

Fee

  • The examination fee is 50 EUR.
  • The fee must be paid no later than 7 days before the scheduled examination date.
  • If the candidate does not attend the examination, the fee is non-refundable.

Additional Information

  • The examination results are provided within 10 working days.
  • Candidates who successfully pass the examination receive an official certificate issued by the Center for Lithuanian Studies and Foreign Languages of Klaipėda University, confirming their achieved level of Lithuanian language proficiency.
