So I participated in two similar language courses in Vilnius and Kaunas before, so this one is my third and last such course (with a scholarship). Now I definitely think that this very course was the best. This one was very well-organized, speaking on lessons and extra-curricular activities too. I think I enjoyed all the course very much, and I think my Lithuanian got a little better. Ačiū.

In my opinion, the Winter Academy for Lithuanian Language and Culture at Klaipėda University is a great opportunity to improve language skills and gain a deeper understanding of Lithuanian culture. The program is well organized, and the teachers and event coordinators are highly professional and friendly. The language lessons are both useful and engaging; while the cultural activities help participants better understand Lithuanian traditions. It is not just about learning, but also an inspiring experience that leaves many wonderful memories.

This course is the most fruitful and beneficial experience I have ever had ever. All of those activities: lectures with teacher Virginija was the greatest thing in my learning process on Lithuanian language; a bunch of excursions to several cities, galleries, and art galleries exhibitions; and supportive environment from the teacher, staff, and friends here.

When I arrived in Lithuania, the language and culture felt very distant, yet gradually they became close to my heart. The Lithuanian language and culture course played a central role in this journey, giving me the chance not only to learn but also to connect with people from different parts of the world, and these encounters turned into friendships that will last long.

Each day of the course brought new discoveries – from stories about Lithuania’s past to local festivals and trips around the country. Excursions to Kaunas, Vilnius, Trakai, or walks through Klaipėda allowed me to see the country up close, while cultural activities, dances, traditional foods, and shared celebrations created a sense of belonging.

From this experience I took away not only more knowledge but also a full heart – of emotions, memories, and inspiration to continue exploring Lithuania. It was a journey that left a deep mark and made the country feel truly close.

I am very glad that I had the opportunity to participate in the Winter Academy of Lithuanian Language and Culture. It was an unforgettable and impressive experience for me. I could talk a lot about the advantages of the course. Each day, along with lectures on Lithuanian language and culture, as well as history, was filled with various activities, which gave us the opportunity to directly experience and feel the beauty of Lithuanian culture. Through the activities offered by the organizers, we travelled around the country and got acquainted with cultural heritage monuments and sights. We attended folk song evenings and studied folk song lyrics, which brought us even closer to the Lithuanian language. One of the most memorable experiences was visiting a Lithuanian family, where we had the opportunity to personally participate in the preparation of traditional dishes, learn about Lithuanian hospitality, and practice using the Lithuanian language. Each day of the project could be discussed at length. I can say that I gained a wealth of knowledge, created unforgettable memories, and made friends. This project, which focused on learning the Lithuanian language, also provided me with a valuable intercultural experience. I would also like to mention that the entire project team worked tirelessly to ensure everything was perfect, and all of this is thanks to them. I want to express my gratitude for their support, care, and cooperation.

This was a well-organized and intensive course. The classes were highly efficient, and the excursions complemented them perfectly. I truly enjoyed the experience of learning about Lithuanian culture and history through a multisensory approach. Moreover, the dedication and support of all the teachers and staff encouraged us to naturally and confidently use Lithuanian in our daily lives. I'm truly grateful for this learning experience.

The course was well-rounded, with the right mix of in-classroom lessons and outdoor immersions. (I wish I could fit everything into a few sentences, but it’s impossible to describe the experience with just words.) We were treated, looked after, and spoken to like family. This is my second time back in Klaipėda for the same course, and the only thing on my mind before leaving is when I’ll be coming back.

Keyan Wang (China)

From my perspective, everything was perfect! The course is both useful and interesting. Virginija is the best, and all the events are memorable; everyone was nice and friendly. Actually, we had a wonderful month together. I loved this project, already recommended everyone I know to join, and I'll try my best to come back.

Charles Szypszak (USA)

I already filled out an evaluation and mentioned how grateful I am that you made such efforts to include the remote students in the activities. I learned a lot about the language and culture. If in the future I have an opportunity to devote the necessary time to continue to study the language, I will want to return to your programs if possible.

Vytis Karanauskas Ciuoderis (of Lithuanian origin from Colombia)

In 2012, we found out we had family in Lithuania, and in 2014, we visited for the first time. Since they don’t speak English, I often felt left out. Now, after two days with them, our conversations still aren’t fluent, but I’m incredibly grateful to the program for helping me reconnect with my roots. The course wasn’t just about language, it also covered history, culture, and friendship. The professors were great and always ready to help, and everything was well organized and executed.

I am sincerely thankful for Klaipeda University Winter Course and scholarship foundation for giving me this opportunity to travel to Lithuania, Klaipeda, to live there for a month and study. In Tbilisi, I am studying the Lithuanian language, and I am planning to continue my education in Lithuania and study in the Lithuanian language. This month was the most memorable and special for me because of this program. I got the chance to live in Lithuania, to study and deepen my knowledge, and to practice speaking Lithuanian with the natives. Right now, I feel much more confident while speaking. I’ve got to know more about culture and history through lectures and interesting, well-organized excursions. Thanks to this program, I met many wonderful people, like teachers and friends. My sincere thanks to this program and to all people who are involved in this process.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude for the wonderful opportunity to participate in the Lithuanian language and culture winter course. The program was incredibly well organized, and I truly enjoyed every aspect of it—from engaging lessons to cultural activities that deepened my understanding of Lithuania. Your dedication and enthusiasm made the experience both educational and inspiring. I appreciate all the effort you put into creating such a welcoming and enriching environment. Thank you once again for this unforgettable experience!

Filip Femic (Montenegro)

The language and culture of the Lithuanian people seemed so unreachable for me, yet I still felt a strong need to visit Lithuania. One day I woke up and decided that the time had come. After I had finished this course, its language, culture, and people became so close to my heart. The course on Lithuanian language and culture gave me an opportunity to meet different people from Lithuania and from all around the world, and I feel like my network now is the strongest it has ever been. Thanks to the amazing team behind the course, and certainly our professor Virginija, we were able to do our best to blend into the Lithuanian community as well as our own international group. Apart from great knowledge, I came back to Montenegro with a full heart and a full mind of amazing memories, friendships for life, and strong emotions.

Valeria Sol Kasparavicius (Argentina)

The course was perfect—such a nice experience. Even online, it really feels like I'm there and in a real family. The final meeting was so lovely, with the awards being such a funny moment. And I have to think about the summer course, but I'm sure I'll continue studying the Lithuanian language.

Eteri Vepkhvadze (Georgia)

When I was writing a motivation letter for the courses, the main goal was to improve my language skills in a natural environment, and the foundation gave me the chance to do so. We had the best environment for learning the language, a team of professionals who were always ready to help. The result of their tireless work is that after returning to Georgia, my knowledge has improved, I have more confidence when I speak, and most importantly, I have the greatest motivation not to stop here and continue my studies and development in the Lithuanian language and culture at our Center.

Man buvo labai malonu studijuoti. Mano nuoširdžiausia pagarba dėstytojoms Kristinai, Vaidai ir visiems organizatoriams! Labai esu dėkingas už nuostabų nuotolinį lietuvių kalbos kursą. Labai ačiū visiems jums už šiltą atmosferą, gerą nuotaiką ir galimybę sužinoti ir išmokti daugiau lietuvių kalbos.

Lithuanian Language and Culture Winter Course organized by Klaipeda University was everything you said it would be. It was not only enriching but also incredibly relevant to my professional development. I want to acknowledge the exceptional effort and hard work of the staff invested in preparing such a course program. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to teacher Virginija Jurgaitytė for her time, passion, and dedication.

Olha Nezhyva (Ukraine)

I liked the Lithuanian language and culture winter course program so much. The level of teaching was high. The lessons were so interesting. The teacher was amazing, instilling a love not only for the Lithuanian language but also for culture and history. I loved the Lithuanian language, which I want to continue to study. I started to read and understand a lot, and it helped my research. Thank you for the opportunities to open incredibly interesting and beautiful Lithuania and its culture.

Giorgi Mgaloblishvili (Georgia)

Lithuania has become a land of “firsts” for me. Despite the warnings about its cold, from witnessing the frozen sea and being in the middle of the frozen dunes to strolling through the winter-white city of Klaipėda, not a single moment passed without a profound sense of warmth. I've never felt more embraced and welcomed.

Klaipėda University's Language and Culture courses are nothing short of amazing. To the staff and teachers, my heartfelt gratitude for curating such a wonderful and enriching experience. Thank you all for making this time truly exceptional.

Kristina Ivanitska (Ukraine)

This month was amazing and full of various activities and positive emotions for me. That’s all because of the courses. I really liked the way the courses were organized: interesting excursions and lessons, nice and smart people around me, and, of course, truly professional teachers. People who have a passion for what they do fascinate me—it always inspires me. I’m thankful for the opportunity to be part of the courses again, and I hope to come back in the future.

Nargiz Akhundova (Azerbaijan)

I am very happy that I was in Lithuania and was a part of this wonderful program.

Overall, I want to express my sincere appreciation for the outstanding winter program you organized. It was a truly enriching experience, and I left feeling inspired and motivated. Thank you for your hard work and dedication in creating such a memorable event.

I look forward to the opportunity to connect with you again soon and to continue our collaboration in the future.

Tetiana Koval (Ukraine)

I really enjoyed my experience in this course, especially thanks to the teachers—their attitude and approach to teaching were outstanding. Their dedication and engaging methods made learning both effective and enjoyable. One thing I would personally prefer is having full coursebooks instead of just separate pages. I like seeing the structure and content of a book, as it allows me to refer back to specific units or sections whenever needed. Of course, it’s not an issue to buy the books ourselves, but having a structured resource would be helpful. A highlight for me was how every class started—with songs or proverbs. It was a wonderful way to set the mood and immerse ourselves in the language. I enjoyed it so much that I’d love to try this approach with my own students! I would definitely recommend this course to anyone interested in learning Lithuanian, especially those fascinated by Lithuanian culture. There were many opportunities to dive into cultural aspects, making the experience even more enriching. Thank you for organizing such a great Winter Academy.

Mariam Aptsiauri (Georgia)

Dmytro Hodun (Ukraine)

I really enjoyed the past month; I learned many new things, learned a little Lithuanian and visited places that I really want to return to. I really hope that I can come in the summer. Thank you for this great month!

Ali Movsumov (Azerbaijan)

If you want to spend your holidays in a productive way and make new friends, then this course is what you need. Klaipeda is a port city on the Baltic Sea coast. Every corner contains a piece of the city’s rich history.

We started learning Lithuanian from zero. (…) Thanks to the diligence of our teachers, we have made great progress in learning the language. I would like to thank our teacher Dina Antanavičienė for her enthusiasm and desire to give knowledge to her students, as well as for creating a very friendly atmosphere in the classroom. The lessons were very interesting and there was a lot of teamwork.

In addition to the Lithuanian language lessons, the course included tours around Lithuania and interesting lectures about Lithuanian history and Lithuanian traditional music. We sang Lithuanian folk songs and learned to play folk musical instruments. (…)

I want to thank the course supervisor Jūratė Derukaitė and everyone who made our stay in Lithuania possible. Ačiū jums!

Yuliia Tyshchenko (Ukraine)

I liked KU Winter Academy so much. I will never forget it. Teacher Virginia did an amazing job, and I loved the entire cultural program. I will definitely apply for summer courses. Thank you for everything.
